California cannabis regulators have issued a recall for Mr. Zips vape cartridges after discovering pesticide contamination in multiple product batches.
The state Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) announced the voluntary recall on Friday, covering cartridges sold on or after Aug. 14, 2024, according to the agency’s website.
Recall Details
The recall affects seven varieties of 1-gram Mr. Zips vape cartridges, which were sold in at least 30 licensed dispensaries across California.

Consumer Guidance
The DCC advises consumers who purchased any of the listed products to either return them to the retailer for proper disposal or discard them safely.
Anyone experiencing adverse health reactions after using the recalled products should contact their healthcare provider immediately, regulators said.
Pattern of Recalls
While voluntary cannabis product recalls are not uncommon, critics argue that many occur too late to prevent consumers from being exposed to unsafe products.
Earlier this summer, the DCC issued two mandatory recalls for Alien Labs flower following microbial contamination findings. The department has also ordered multiple voluntary recalls across categories including pre-rolls, edibles, and beverages.
The latest recall highlights ongoing challenges for California cannabis regulators in ensuring product safety within one of the nation’s largest and most complex marijuana markets.
