Experience Modifier Rate (EMR)

In the cannabis industry, the Experience Modifier Rate (EMR) —commonly called the X-Mod —is a numeric factor insurers use to adjust a company’s workers’ compensation premium based on its past claims history. It compares a business’s actual injury and loss record to the expected losses of similar companies in the same industry classification, increasing premiums for poor performance and lowering them for strong safety records.
