The force said the address had been flagged as potentially housing an illegal cannabis cultivation site, prompting officers to conduct the morning raid. During the search, approximately 190 cannabis plants were found across three rooms, each outfitted with fans, lighting, and other growing equipment. Officers also discovered that electricity had been dangerously bypassed throughout the home, creating a significant fire hazard.

Albjon Proi was detained immediately after the discovery. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that all drugs and growing paraphernalia were removed from the property. Proi later appeared at Nottingham Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty to producing cannabis. He was sentenced to two years and four months in prison.

Insp. Steve Dalby, who oversaw the operation, remarked that Proi “only realised what was happening when we were standing right next to him.” He emphasized the broader risks associated with domestic cannabis cultivation, noting that these operations “bring nothing but trouble to communities” and present “a very real and very dangerous fire risk.”
