However, despite the new regulations, the state has opted not to establish a traditional distribution market akin to the one used for cannabis dispensaries.

According to recent reports from the Denver Post, the new rules primarily target individuals interested in growing psychedelic mushrooms, operating therapy centers, or manufacturing psilocybin-infused edibles. This regulatory framework sets the stage for the legal use and distribution of psilocybin, the psychoactive compound found in certain mushrooms, within a controlled environment.

Controlled Access at Healing Centers

One of the key aspects of Colorado’s approach is the restriction on where and how psilocybin products can be accessed. Unlike cannabis, which is sold through a network of dispensaries, psilocybin products will only be available to adults aged 21 and over at licensed healing centers.
